Mountain Heart – Sat., May 5th

Join us this Saturday night for two amazing bluegrass bands: Mountain Heart, with opening act Songs From the Road Band. Tickets are $20/$25 and music will start at 8 pm. Tickets can be purchased from The Daily Grind, and from Rising Sun Breads in Martinsville. They can also be bought online HERE.

The opening set and the first Mountain Heart set will featured seats in the dance floor of the Rives. After Mountain Heart’s first set concludes, we will remove the folding chairs from the dance floor for their second set.

Join us for a very special, seven-piece all-star collective when the Camel City Collective welcomes Roosevelt Collier & Billy Cardine into their midst!Soft-spoken by nature, south Florida-bred Roosevelt Collier does his hollering on the sacred steel guitar. Brought up in the tradition of the House of God Church, Roosevelt built his reputation alongside his uncles and cousins in The Lee Boys, known for their spirited, soul-shaking live performances. At festivals, he is a regular “Artist at Large,” performing alongside many of music’s most prestigious acts, from the Allman Brothers, to the Funky Meters, to Los Lobos to the Del McCoury Band.

Billy Cardine has been recognized as a slide guitar pioneer, taking the dobro with him into unchartered genres.Cardines patchwork of diverse musical influences contributes to his chameleonesque ability to fit in with whatever collaboration he joins on the stage, or in the studio. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Ryman Auditorium and major festivals, such as Bonnaroo, Merlefest and Rockygrass.Billys distinct voice on all things slide has lead him to collaborations with Led Zeppelin’s own, John Paul Jones, the world renowned Edgar Meyer and alongside dobro king, Jerry Douglas.

The band will also featureAnnalise Stals (sax),Joey Rayfield (trombone; played with Prince);Nishah Dimeo (vocals),Nick Baglio (drums; Boulevards, Nicolay) andBill Stevens (keys; The Lee Boys, Big Daddy Love). His insatiable interest in music discovery, sheer love for entertaining and curiosity have led him all around the world, and the resulting perspective is a reflection of his passion for entertaining and creating progressive roots music in an effort to move the art-form forward. Composer, producer, vocalist, and award wining entertainer and piano player; Victor Wainwright is a raucous high-octane, dynamic performer and crowd pleaser with soul to spare. Tickets: $125 each (includes 2018 season pass to at least six additional concerts in 2018).

Jan. 13 – Trongone Band for Chamber Appreciation Night

Join us Sat., Jan. 13th for Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Member Appreciation Night, featuring two sets from The Trongone Band. The first set of the night will be a tribute to rock stars lost in 2017, while the second will be an originial-music set.

Members of the Chamber can get free tickets to this show by emailing Sharon at Similarly, everyone who has already purchased their 2018 Live at the Rives Season Passes will get into this show free of charge. Otherwise, tickets cost $7 in advance and $10 at the doors.

Fri., Dec. 22 – Big Fat Gap Reunion Band

Join us this Friday night for a Bluegrass Super Jam hosted by the Big Fat Gap Reunion Band. Music will start at 8:15 pm. Band members will include: Andy Thorn (banjo, Leftover Salmon); Andrew Marlin (mandolin, Mandolin Orange); Jon Stickley (guitar, Jon Stickley Trio); Bobby Britt (fiddle, Town Mountain); Miles Andrews (bass; Big Fat Gap).

Sanctum Sully members Jay Franck and Win Webster will open the show. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of show. You can buy them online HERE or from the Daily Grind and Rising Sun Breads.

FYIs for those who have never been to a show at the Rives…

This won’t be a “fully-seated” show. We have 180 seats in the theatre, plus a standing area/dance floor directly in front of the stage. So there will be more people in the room than seats in the room, just so you know.

It’s a sold out show, so it will be very crowded.

All seats are first come, first served. Billy will hit the stage at 9 pm. Doors will open to the public at 8 pm. We’ll have a local food truck outside of the theatre.

We sell beer (craft & domestic), wine, soft drinks, pizza and popcorn in the lobby. In the actual theatre, where the band performs, we’ll have a small bar selling a limited menu of domestic beer.
