Local southern rock band Left Hip Pocket will perform at the Rives Theatre on Monday night for the venue’s annual day after Christmas concert.
The band, comprised of five Martinsville-Henry County natives, plays a mix of cover songs and originals. In addition to southern rock, Left Hip Pocket (LHP) also is known for their impressive blues chops.
“We’re very excited to have been invited back to the Rives,” said band leader Riggs Roberson. “We’ve got a great set lined up with some new originals in the mix, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
The band consists of Roberson (lead vocals and electric guitar), Austin Janey (vocals, keyboard), Griffin Haley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Wenn Harold (electric bass) and Camry Harris (drums). This will mark the band’s third performance at the Rives. In addition, LHP has been a part of the last three Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festivals, including an Allman Brothers Band tribute set with special guest Josh Shilling on organ and keys.
“Left Hip Pocket always puts on a fantastic show,” said Johnny Buck, a theatre board member. “Monday night will be a great opportunity to connect with friends and fellow music fans while dancing off some of those Christmas calories.”
Tickets to the concert cost $10 in advance from the Daily Grind, Rising Sun Breads and www.brownpapertickets.com. The theatre has also made five group ticket packages available at the Daily Grind; each packet contains 10 tickets and costs $75.
Admission will be $15 per person on show night at the theatre’s box office. Doors to the Rives will open at 7 p.m., and Left Hip Pocket will begin playing at 8 p.m.
Following Monday night’s show, the Rives will host the Mason Via Funk Band and Violet Bell, featuring Lizzy Ross, on New Year’s Eve. Then, New Orleans rock band Dave Jordan & The NIA will take the stage on Jan. 14, 2017. For more information, visit www.RivesTheatre.org.
